you are good enoughParenting Tips: You Are Good Enough

I have been a mom for many years and one thing I have struggled with over the years if feeling like I wasn’t good enough. I felt unequipped and ill-prepared for the task of mothering the children God had given me. In fact, I would even say there were moments when I felt like God made a mistake. The child He gave me must have been intended for someone else!

Think about the image of the stork delivering the baby, getting mixed up and ending up delivering the wrong baby to the wrong parents. Even though I know that is NOT how things work I sometimes wondered if God got me confused with some other woman out there who was way more equipped to deal with this little person than me! Can you relate to that feeling?

This feeling can strike at any point in the parenting journey. And just when you think you got it all figured out and things are going smoothly…it can strike then too!

In those times it is important to remember the truth about what God says about you. The Bible is the foundation that we can depend on. When we have thoughts that do not line up with the scriptures we need to refocus our thoughts on the truth.

You Are Good Enough!

This truth…

You. Are. Good. Enough.

When you feel like a failure.

You. Are. Good. Enough.

When you feel like you can’t face another day.

You. Are. Good. Enough.

When your child is defiant and you are at a loss.

You. Are. Good. Enough.

When you just don’t know what to do.

You. Are. Good. Enough.

And if you still don’t really believe it…start quoting scriptures that feed your soul this truth.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 NASB

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 NKJV

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:13, 14 NKJV

God did not make a mistake. You are not a mistake and neither is your child. Trust that God knows what He is doing. He started something in you and your child and He will finish it. Even when you feel defeated and discouraged, you CAN do all things through the strength that comes from Christ. And both you and your child were created with a plan and a purpose. No mistakes with God.

When you are struggling with this issue, go look in the mirror and say it out loud.

I. Am. Good. Enough.

And I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
